Message from the CEO

Recently, we rarely hear positive news about domestic dairy farming, and we are seeing more reports of uncertain futures. The number of dairy farms in Japan has decreased to one-fifth of its former size in 30 years, and is currently facing a harsh reality of a decline of 5% per year. In particular, the decline has accelerated in recent years due to production adjustments and soaring material prices.
On the other hand, domestic consumption of dairy products is on the rise, and foreign dairy products are being actively imported, making dairy farming an industry with hidden potential. Compared to Japan's food self-sufficiency rate of 38%, Japan's dairy self-sufficiency rate is 59%, which at first glance seems high, but Japan relies heavily on imports of feed from overseas, and the net domestic self-sufficiency rate from domestically produced feed is only 26%.
"Creating the best customer experience with the smiles of producers" is our corporate philosophy (mission). By creating a system that delivers the ingenuity of producers to consumers, we will work to revitalize domestic dairy farming, create new customer experiences, and revitalize local areas.
We achieve this by providing our customers with grass-fed milk that is superior in terms of taste, health, the environment and animal welfare.

Born in Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido in 1985. After graduating from Kitahiroshima High School and completing graduate school at Hokkaido University, he joined Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. He worked as a systems engineer and project manager in the development of core systems for life insurance companies and health insurance associations. In particular, he led projects such as online health insurance eligibility confirmation and My Number support. After learning about the appeal of grass-fed milk and the current state of dairy farming in Japan, he moved to Nishiokoppe Village in 2020 as a regional revitalization volunteer. He founded Milk Design Co., Ltd. in August 2021.

Our company is certified as a "Hokkaido University Startup Company" by Hokkaido University.
Our company's initiatives and business model based on pasture-based dairy farming were recognized. Specifically, our business activities that tackle a wide range of social issues, including measures against global warming, food security, animal welfare, protein deficiencies caused by the world's growing population, and extending healthy lifespan, were recognized.
With the support of Hokkaido University, which originated from the Sapporo Agricultural College, we aim not only to maintain and improve agricultural productivity, but also to pursue both delicious and healthy food, thereby creating excitement for our customers and ultimately contributing to the realization of a better future.
